(2009) Curse Cures

“Night. Shift. My mother worked the night shift.”
Curse Cures (2009)
Hi-8, 10 minutes
Synopsis: The arrival of a new worker in a jeans factory causes mysterious changes to the rhythms of the workplace.
Produced during Charles Street Video + IMAGES Festival Residency 2008-2009
Based on OPIE, a live performance with Serena Lee and Luo Li.
*Had the pleasure and honour of working with Serena Lee during the Summerworks Festival 2008 on her play “Arm’s Length” (by Serena Lee and Laurel Green). Serena worked like a pro wizard on her overhead projector – what hands! In one scene she taped together multiple sheets of acetate to create a long scrolling image of an esophagus. This strategy inspired me to sew my transparencies together for curse cures. Everything I learned, I learned from Serena Lee.
