MY MATSURA (2006)
Frank S. Matsura, a photographer of Japanese heritage, showed up in Concully, Washington in 1903. Looking at the photographs taken by Matsura, a woman reflects upon the arrival and disappearance of someone in her life, the desire for escape, and the un/documentable. In this film Matsura’s photographs are reworked and presented as cultural artifacts that offer us both certainties and uncertainties about history and memory.
